The Chef's Cookbook is provided by Valaryn Technologies. By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box, or continuing to use the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.
Keep your password private and your account details accurate. You are responsible for everything done through your account and for the content you upload. Do not upload content you have no right to share, attempt to break or overload the service, reverse engineer it, resell access, or use it for anything other than storing and sharing recipes with people you invite.
The Chef's Cookbook offers a free tier limited to 35 recipes with basic scanning, and a Premium subscription. Premium is offered at $4.99 per month, $39.99 per year, or a one-time lifetime purchase of $99.00, in US dollars, plus any applicable tax. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice; changes never affect a period you have already paid for. Where the app is distributed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the purchase is processed by that store under its own terms, and payment is charged to your store account at confirmation.
Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price at the end of each billing period, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your payment method (or store account) is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. A lifetime purchase is a single charge and never renews.
You can cancel at any time in Settings → Subscription, or — if you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play — in the subscription settings of that store. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium features until the end of the period you already paid for. Partial periods are not refunded except where required by law or by the app store's refund policy.
The app itself — its software, design, name and branding — belongs to Valaryn Technologies and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for as long as you comply with these terms.
You keep full ownership of the recipes, notes, images and other material you upload. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, back up, process and display that material to you and to the family members you invite — for example, converting a photograph into editable text. We do not sell your content, publish it, or use it to train third-party models. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload, and must not upload copyrighted recipe text or photographs belonging to someone else without permission. Report infringement to support@valaryntechnologies.com; we remove infringing material and may terminate repeat infringers.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that scanning will read every recipe correctly, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Valaryn Technologies is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Keep your own backups — the app provides an export and backup tool for this purpose.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings → Your data. Deleting removes your personal information, recipes and uploaded images permanently. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is used unlawfully, or where required by law, giving notice where we reasonably can.
We may update these terms; material changes are notified in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
